Who we are
Akila Hair and Beauty (the salon) operates from 10 Station Street, Oakleigh VIC 3166. ABN pending. Contact akilahair.business@gmail.com or 0470 329 688 for any privacy question.
What we collect
Only what we need to book you in, deliver service, and follow up.
- Name, phone, email when you book or contact us.
- Service history what colour or treatment you had, formula notes, allergies you tell us about.
- Payment handled directly by Square. We never see or store full card numbers.
- Site analytics anonymised page views, device type, referrer, time on page. No facial data, no precise location. IP addresses truncated before storage.
- Ad attribution if you arrive from an ad and choose to continue through our booking attribution page, we store a one-way hash of the phone or email you enter, plus the ad click ID and booking link. We do not store your raw phone or email in the attribution store.
How we use it
- Confirm and remind you of your appointment.
- Match your hair history at your next visit, so you don't repeat yourself.
- Send aftercare or care-product notes if you opt in.
- Improve the website by understanding which pages help and which don't.
- Match a completed Square booking back to the ad click that led to it, so we can measure real bookings instead of guessed clicks.
Who else sees it
- Square booking and payment processor. Subject to Square's own privacy terms.
- Google Analytics anonymised site usage only. No personal data sent.
- Google Ads only if you click an ad. Conversion signals may include Google click identifiers and hashed contact identifiers for booking attribution.
- Cloudflare hosts the attribution bridge and temporary hashed attribution records.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Ever.
How long we keep it
Client records: seven years from your last visit, so we can pick up where we left off.
Marketing consent: until you unsubscribe.
Hashed ad attribution records: up to 30 days.
Site analytics: 14 months, then automatic deletion.
Your rights
- See what we hold on you.
- Correct anything wrong.
- Ask us to delete it, unless we're legally required to keep it.
- Opt out of marketing email at any time. One click in any email.
- Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) if you feel we've mishandled your data.
Cookies
Site uses one analytics cookie (Google Analytics, anonymised) and one consent cookie. Ad cookies are off by default and only activate if you accept them via a future consent banner.
Security
All site traffic is HTTPS encrypted. Booking and payment data handled by Square inside their PCI-DSS environment. Client notes stored inside our Square account, two-factor authenticated. Paper records kept in a locked area on premises.
Children
We provide salon services to clients under 18 only with parent or guardian consent in person. We do not knowingly collect data online from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we update this policy, the date at the top changes. Material changes get notified by email if we have your email on file.
